Philadelphia Eagles rookie wide receiver DeVonta Smith was not happy with Alabama’s offensive performance in the first half against Auburn.

Entering rivalry week, the Alabama Crimson Tide were coming off a closer-than-expected win over the Arkansas Razorbacks, resulting in them dropping one spot in the College Football Playoff rankings. With an SEC title game matchup with the No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs on the horizon, Alabama need to have an impressive showing and victory in the Iron Bowl against the Auburn Tigers on Saturday.

That was far from the case, as the Crimson Tide entered halftime trailing 7-0 to the Tigers, due in part to the play of the offense. Philadelphia Eagles rookie wide receiver and former Heisman Trophy winner for Alabama, DeVonta Smith, voiced his displeasure for the offensive performance. Specifically, he took issue with checking the ball down at the line of scrimmage.

Smith, who scored 23 touchdowns on his way to a Heisman Trophy win and a national championship victory, was not too keen on Alabama’s offensive game plan.

Alabama had a miserable time against Auburn’s defense. Quarterback Bryce Young was sacked five times in the first half and had just six completions on 16 throws for a total of 70 yards. That, and the Crimson Tide running attack posted negative two yards on 14 carries.

It also did not help that top wide receiver Jameson Williams was disqualified for the remainder of the game for targeting.

However the game ends, the Crimson Tide will burn the first half tape because there was not much to look back on with fondness.
