When is the last time South Carolina beat Clemson football?

South Carolina has been on the losing end of the Palmetto Bowl with Clemson football since their last win in 2013 when Steve Spurrier was the coach of the Gamecocks.
While they did not play last year, the South Carolina Gamecocks have not beaten the Clemson Tigers in far too long.
Dubbed as The Palmetto Bowl, these two southeastern schools meet annually on Thanksgiving Weekend. It is one of four annual rivalries between ACC and SEC schools that was disrupted by COVID a year ago. With Clemson being the preeminent power in the ACC throughout most of the College Football Playoff, it has been a minute since the Gamecocks have defeated the Tigers.
So when was the last time South Carolina beat Clemson head-to-head on the gridiron?
The Palmetto Bowl: When did South Carolina last beat Clemson?
After a long losing streak, South Carolina finally got back into the win column against their rivals with a 31-30 win over Clemson in the 2022 playing of Palmetto Bowl.
Entering the 2022 game, the Tigers had won seven in a row over the Gamecocks. Factor in the 2020 game not being played and South Carolina’s most recent victory over the Tigers came on Nov. 30, 2013. Steve Spurrier was still the Head Ball Coach up in Columbia. While Dabo Swinney had taken over the Tigers program, it would take two years before Clemson made the playoff.
The game in question saw the Gamecocks handle the Tigers soundly, 31-17 in Columbia. Connor Shaw was the winning quarterback, as Tajh Boyd fell to the Gamecocks once again. Interestingly enough, South Carolina had won five games in a row over the Tigers after that game. Clemson may hold a massive 71-42-4 all-time lead over South Carolina, but that five-year run was great.
With the Gamecocks’ last win over the Tigers coming in Columbia, maybe they do end the streak?
