Here are 100,000 Michigan football fans singing “Mr. Brightside” in the snow after beating the Ohio State football team.

It was a decade in the making, but the Michigan football finally faithful had their day in the snow, as they actually beat the dreaded Ohio State football team head-to-head.

In a clash of College Football Playoff hopefuls, the home team came out on top in The Big House, 42-27. Michigan not only clinched a Big Ten East division crown, but eliminated the Buckeyes from playoff contention with their second loss on the season. To celebrate the momentous occasion, 100,000 Wolverines fans stormed the field and then sang The Killers’ “Mr. Brightside” in the snow.

Michigan will face the Big Ten West winner Iowa Hawkeyes in Indianapolis with a College Football Playoff berth on the line.

It had been a decade since the Wolverines beat their arch rival. Though Michigan has adopted The Killers’ greatest hit as a bit of a calling card for them, it has never sounded so beautiful than it did on Saturday afternoon. Assuming the Wolverines can get past Iowa in Indianapolis, Michigan will be making its first ever trip to the College Football Playoff, almost certainly as a top-two seed.

While Iowa will not be as formidable of an adversary as Ohio State was, the Hawkeyes would love nothing more than to go to the Rose Bowl as Big Ten champions. For now, Michigan must get ready for its biggest game in well over a decade. Though teams like Georgia and potentially Alabama loom large over in the SEC, Michigan has a shot at winning a national title this season.

Michigan proved to everyone the Wolverines can beat Ohio State, but they must avoid a catastrophic meltdown next week in Indianapolis vs. a feisty Hawkeyes team.
