With Lincoln Riley leaving for USC on the Lord’s Day, some Oklahoma football message boards prefer the literal devil over their former head coach.

It went to hell in a hand basket in Bedlam last night and now fans on Oklahoma football message boards actually prefer the literal devil over former head coach Lincoln Riley.

Oklahoma fans are pretty much one muffed punt away from winning Bedlam yet again and forcing an immediate rematch with the Pokes in Arlington the following week with a College Football Playoff berth on the line. Now, Boomer Sooner Nation is actually comparing their former head coach with freaking Beelzebub. There is bargaining and then there is whatever the hell this is.

College football once again proves it is the gift that keeps on giving.

While going to USC gives Riley a clearer path to the College Football Playoff by going to an easier conference, the devil does not hide who he is, he is not afraid of a little competition and he would never live in California. The last 24 hours in the Sooner State have been something else alright. Everybody thought Riley was going to Louisiana and not Los Angeles. We got our LA’s mixed up.

The hilarious part in all this is one might misread this comparison to Nick Saban. Let’s be real. Saban would not hide who he is, he is not afraid of a little competition and he would never live in California either. As Riley looks to rebuild the USC football program into something respectable, Oklahoma fans are hoping to land a head coach who would never to try duck Saban in SEC play.

Not to say Riley burning his Easter brisket to a crisp was foreshadowing, but what a coincidence!
