NFL power rankings, Week 13: Patriots roll, Steelers stifled
Off a 34-31 victory over the Packers, the Purple Gang traveled to San Francisco looking to get over the .500 mark. The teams were tied at 14-all at intermission but the Vikings gave up 20 points alone in the third quarter.
Running back Dalvin Cook finished with only 39 yards on 10 carries but did catch six passes for 64 yards. He was carted off the field late in the third quarter with an apparent shoulder injury. Minnesota’s defense allowed 423 total yards.
Make it three straight games and six times in their last seven outings that Kevin Stefanski’s team has been limited to 17 points or less. On Sunday night at Baltimore, the Browns reached the end zone only once as battered Baker Mayfield hit on just under 50 percent of his passes, was sacked twice and had one of Cleveland’s two turnovers.
The Browns’ defense picked off Ravens’ quarterback Lamar Jackson four times but failed to take full advantage.
The Niners appeared to be getting their act together after a 3-5 start. But the team was hosting the explosive Vikings as both clubs looked to move about .500. San Francisco rookie running back Elijah Mitchell finished with 133 of the team’s 208 yards on the ground and also scored once.
Versatile Deebo Samuel had six carries for 66 yards and a pair of scores. And Kyle Shanahan’s team scored at least 30 points for the third consecutive game.
