Tony Allen’s retirement really isn’t going well.
The former defensive stalwart for the Celtics and Grizzlies now needs another legal defense after he was arrested in Tennessee for an incident involving his wife, Desiree Allen, and their children.
Collierville Police arrested Allen after his wife alleged he broke down the door of her apartment, threw her phone in the toilet when she tried to call police and left her with rug burn from a physical struggle, according to FOX 13 Memphis.
Ex-Celtics, Grizzlies guard Tony Allen charged with domestic assault
Allen has been charged with domestic assault, domestic vandalism and interference with emergency calls.
The altercation allegedly stemmed from Allen’s demeanor turning “dark” recently. Allen’s wife claimed he accused her of “keeping his children from him.”
Allen was already in legal trouble as one of 18 former NBA players who were indicted on charges of defrauding the NBA’s Health and Welfare Benefit Plan. Allen’s wife was also indicted.
Back in 2007, Allen was found not guilty of aggravated battery for his role in a 2005 fight that ended in a shooting.
