Lincoln Riley has turned the recruiting tides for USC football as Oklahoma commits have changed course to the Trojans and another 5-star has done so.

From the moment that Lincoln Riley to USC became a reality, college football fans knew that the recruiting landscape was going to change dramatically. And since then, Oklahoma has been bleeding high-level recruits as four players ranked in the top 110 and three in the top 30 of the 247Sports Composite Rankings for 2023 have decommitted.

One such player, Malachi Nelson — the No. 2 overall recruit in 2023 — already made his decision to commit to USC football moving forward. The expectation has been that more will follow. Though not in the 2023 class, we have another player in that vein.

Raleek Brown, a 2022 5-star running back from Mater Dei in California, deommitted from the Sooners on Wednesday night. And less than 24 hours later, he announced his decision to commit to the Trojans.

USC football recruiting: Lincoln Riley lands 5-star Raleek Brown for 2022

As noted by The Athletic’s Ari Wasserman, Lincoln Riley and USC football still have a lot of work left ahead as they only have five players committed to their 2022 class and rank 88th in the country for this cycle.

With the way things have trended of late, though, the expectation should certainly be for Riley to continue his coup upon his arrival with the Trojans.

The new USC head coach was a phenomenal recruiter at Oklahoma but is now in a hot bed for recruiting in southern California and brings with him the potential to land the types of high-level players out of high school on the West Coast.

Brown will be a tremendous asset in his own right with a 5-star pedigree in the backfield but, make no mistakes, this isn’t the first and won’t be the last big-time splash Riley makes on the recruiting trail now that he’s helming the USC football program.
