When is the last time Utah won the Pac-12?
The Utah football program has been in the Pac-12 for more than 10 years now. Have they ever taken home the Pac-12 Championship Game?
For the third time since they joined the Pac-12, the Utah Utes are playing for the conference crown in 2021.
Kyle Whittingham’s program adapted to life in the Power 5 relatively quickly but they have yet to break through for the top prize.
Has Utah ever won the Pac-12 title?
No, the Utes have lost both conference title games they have played in.
They first won a share of the Pac-12 South title in 2015. However, USC had the tiebreaker and went on to lose to Christian McCaffrey and Stanford.
Utah’s first-ever appearance in 2018 ended in disappointment as Washington won a low-scoring battle, 10-3. Neither offense found the endzone but disaster struck for the Utes when Byron Murphy intercepted Jason Shelley and returned the pick for a touchdown in the third quarter. That was the difference in the game.
Utah scored their first Pac-12 Championship Game touchdown in 2019 against Oregon but that was only after falling behind 20-0 at halftime. They went on to lose 37-15 as CJ Verdell ran wild with 208 yards and three touchdowns, canceling out Zack Moss’s 170 yards from scrimmage.
Utah’s last conference championship came in the Mountain West in 2008.
