The Alabama Crimson Tide defeated the undefeated Georgia Bulldogs to win the SEC Championship. The college football media world reacts.

The Alabama Crimson Tide’s 2021 season was far from easy, as evidenced by their loss to Texas A&M and their narrow victories over the likes of Florida, Arkansas and Auburn. Facing off against the undefeated Georgia bulldogs and their dominant defense, it looked on paper that the Crimson Tide had no chance.

Alabama defeated Georgia 41-24 to win the SEC Championship and will be heading into the College Football Playoff. The college football media world shared their thoughts on the Crimson Tide showing that they still run the conference.

Alabama wins SEC Championship, likely to clinch College Football Playoff berth

There was one star of the game, and it was undoubtedly quarterback Bryce Young. If there was any doubts that he was going to win the Heisman Trophy this season, they are long gone now.

Young broke two SEC Championship records on Saturday, the most passing yards in a single-game (421) and most total yards (461). He led the Crimson Tide to a 24-17 halftime lead following touchdown passes to Jameson Williams and John Metchie III and ran 11-yards into the end zone by himself. A deep, 55-yard touchdown pass to Williamson the first drive in the second half gave Alabama the 31-17 lead.

Even though Georgia put up 449 total yards of offense, the two turnovers were killer. The one that sealed the deal for the Bulldogs was a Stetson Bennet pass intercepted by Jordan Battle and returned 42-yards for a touchdown, extending the Crimson Tide’s lead to 38-17.

Even though these two teams met in the Conference Championship, we may very well see them face off one more time this year.
