Ben Roethlisberger reportedly thinks that this will be his final season as Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback.

The Pittsburgh Steelers‘ playoff chances are looking a bit bleaker following their blowout loss to the rival Cincinnati Bengals last weekend. Just hours before their big game against the Baltimore Ravens, some big news dropped in regards to quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.

According to ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter, Roethlisberger has privately told former teammates and some inside the Steelers organization that he expects this to be his final season playing in Pittsburgh.

Ben Roethlisberger expects this to be his final season with Steelers

Roethlisberger’s play has taken a hit since he missed out nearly all of the 2019 season due to a shoulder injury. Despite the team starting 11-0 in the 2020 season, signs of Roethlisberger’s regression became evident. The team did bring him back for this season on a reworked deal, but his future was very much in doubt.

This season, things have not gotten any better for Roethlisberger and the Steelers. Through 10 games, Roethlisberger completed 64.6-percent of his passes for 2,522 yards, 14 touchdowns and six interceptions.

If this reporting turns out to be accurate, then all eyes are going to be on the Steelers in the new league year to see how they will find Roethlisberger’s successor. Will they stick with Mason Rudolph? Will they target the trade market? Draft a rookie?

And what about Roethlisberger. If his time with the Steelers is truly over, will he try to continue his career on another team?

The Steelers are going to be an interesting team to follow this offseason.
