Ohio State failed to make the Big Ten Championship Game but, with Michigan and Iowa battling, someone still wanted the Buckeyes to be involved, clearly.

Because Michigan thoroughly manhandled the Ohio State Buckeyes last week in The Game, it was the Wolverines that pushed through to the Big Ten Championship Game for a matchup against the Iowa Hawkeyes.

The Hawkeyes were the West division champions and earned their spot but, as any college football fan will tell you, they aren’t exactly on the same planet in terms of notoriety when compared to Ohio State and Michigan.

Apparently, the Big Ten (or whoever was running the scoreboard at Lucas Oil Stadium) agreed wholeheartedly with that and did their best to OSU involved as they had Iowa on the board as the “Buckeyes”.

In all honesty, this was probably just a mental slip that anyone could’ve made. But it doesn’t make it any less hilarious.

Moreover, it probably only twists the knife for Ohio State fans who would much rather get a rematch with Michigan for the Big Ten title than see Iowa get the shot at the Wolverines in Indianapolis.

Alas, that wasn’t the way things played out. But at least we’ll always have the brief memory of the Iowa Buckeyes after this gaffe on the scoreboard.
