With MLB fans waiting to see where Carlos Correa will end up signing, it turns out a lower back injury has teams hesitant in putting a blockbuster offer on the table.

As it turns out, it might take a little longer for Carlos Correa to shut down his free agency than originally thought. That’s because the superstar shortstop has a concerning injury that teams are worried about? That looks to be the case.

According to MLB insider Buster Olney, teams have questions about Correa’s lower back. With Correa expected to land a monster payday with his new deal, it’d make sense why teams won’t jump to offer if he has back issues. So, how will things play out?

Carlos Correa injury has MLB teams worried in his free agency

Correa has been linked to several teams, including the New York Yankees, Chicago Cubs and others. Fans in New York and Chicago would love for Correa to sign, while Marcus Stroman is even helping the Cubs out in the recruiting department.

With that said, if Correa indeed has these lower back problems, it could scare a team away from offering him what’s bound to be an earth-shattering contract. The Astros themselves would love to get Correa back in the lineup, but that doesn’t feel promising right now.

The Yankees would of course want him to swing the lumber in the Bronx, but Brian Cashman and Co. could look elsewhere in free agency too. No one wants to bring in Correa on his mega-deal and then have him miss extensive action because of a bad back.

Right now, Correa’s future is a bit up in the air and no one knows when he’ll sign. This latest update from Olney only makes things more interesting.
