NFL power rankings, Week 14: Lions win (not a typo)
The surging Niners had won three straight games and scored at least 30 points in each of those contests. The club made its way to Seattle to avenge an earlier loss to Pete Carroll’s team.
It would prove to be a monster outing for tight end George Kittle, who hauled in five passes for 121 yards and two scores in the first half alone and finished the game with nine grabs for 181 yards and two TDs. But Kyle Shanahan’s team was blanked in the second half.
It’s been a disappointing stretch for a team that finished 11-5 a year ago, reached the playoffs for the first time since 2002 and won a postseason game for the first time since 1994. Battered Baker Mayfield has tried to gut it out but the Cleveland offense has sputtered badly.
Kevin Stefanski’s squad has been limited to 17 or fewer points in six of its last seven contests. And the Browns’ defense has been inconsistent at best after a dozen outings this year.
The Broncos dominated the Chargers last Sunday at Denver. Now the team made its way to Arrowhead Stadium for a prime time clash with the Chiefs. Vic Fangio’s team was down 10-0 in the first quarter.
But his defense kept the Kansas City offense out of the end zone the rest of the evening. Down 16-3 in the fourth quarter, a Teddy Bridgewater pass went the other way for a score. The Broncos ran for 154 yards but committed three turnovers.
