Oklahoma football’s seething anger over head coach Lincoln Riley’s departure to USC doesn’t seem to be cooling down all that much.

Now that Oklahoma football has brought in Brent Venables as their new head coach, you’d think they could move on from Lincoln Riley leaving them for USC.

They most certainly have not.

Cayden McFarland of KJRH TV shared a photo from inside Memorial Stadium on Monday showing a mural of Sooner head football coaches. The section featuring Riley is covered by two black drapes.

One has to wonder if Oklahoma will get rid of the two Heismans that Riley helped bring to town or strike his Big 12 titles from the record as well.

It’s only natural to be upset when a head coach jumps ship, especially one who had as much success as Riley.

Still, coaches move from place to place all the time. Brian Kelly is the winningest coach in Notre Dame history and he left for LSU. Jimbo Fisher left Florida State for Texas A&M. Mario Cristobal left Oregon for Miami.

Moreover, Oklahoma made an exceptional hire enticing Brent Venables away from Clemson. It’s time to focus on the future of Sooner football and what Venables can bring to the table instead of making petty gestures around Riley.
