Bryce Young agrees with Alabama football fans that Will Anderson got snubbed out of being a Heisman Trophy finalist.

Though Alabama football star Bryce Young is expected to win the Heisman Trophy, the Crimson Tide quarterback agrees that his teammate Will Anderson should not have been snubbed from the ceremony.

“If you look at the numbers, you look at the production, I definitely think he deserves to be there,” said Young. “It’s unfortunate that he’s not going to be there.”

Anderson had 92 tackles through 13 games as the star player on the Alabama defense. Most impressively, he had an absurd 32.5 tackles for a loss of yardage and 15.5 sacks through the SEC Championship game. No doubt about it, Anderson should be there in New York right there with this Crimson Tide teammate.

The four Heisman Trophy finalists are Young, Michigan Wolverines defensive end Aidan Hutchinson, Pittsburgh Panthers quarterback Kenny Pickett and Ohio State Buckeyes quarterback C.J. Stroud.

Look. There are so many things wrong with the Heisman Trophy, but these are the biggest issues the award needs to address. One, there are too many people voting on the Heisman. Two, voters can only vote for three candidates. And three, this award has been way too quarterback-centric for way too long. Anderson and Michigan State running back Kenneth Walker III should be there.

While Hutchinson and Pickett’s inclusions make complete sense, Stroud probably does not need to be there, but Anderson and Walker getting left out is just plain wrong. Walker is going to run away with the Doak Walker and Anderson has been the best defensive player in college football, if not the best player in all of college football. Fortunately, he will be returning to Tuscaloosa in 2022.

If a voter can’t see how dominant Anderson was this year, then that person should not be voting.
