Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson shot down a report that he would waive his no-trade clause to leave Seattle for a trio of teams.

Is Russell Wilson gearing up to get out of Seattle?

It depends on who you believe.

Recent trade rumors suggest the Seahawks QB is interested in going to the Saints, Giants or Broncos. However, Wilson is singing a different tune in front of reporters.

“I didn’t say that,” Wilson said, according to The Athletic. “I’m focused on what we’re doing here. I love Seattle. This is a place I’ve loved every day, every moment…That’s a non-story.”

Wilson was also asked if he plans to fulfill his contract with the Seahawks, which won’t end until after the 2023 season. He said that’s his intention.

“Hopefully, I get to play here for 20 years of my career,” Russell said. “Will that happen? I don’t know. But that’s my prayer, that’s my hope.”

Wilson’s apparently uneasy relationship with the Seahawks is going to continue to fuel trade rumors regardless of what he says. The Super Bowl winner reportedly is frustrated by the protection in front of him but Seattle hasn’t budged about the prospect of trading their talisman away.

The fact that Seattle is struggling this season will also add to the smoke around trade possibilities. The Seahawks are 4-8 and are guaranteed to post their worst record since Wilson arrived in 2012.

The quarterback missed some time due to a finger injury but the team is still 3-6 with Wilson at the helm.
