The Chicago Cubs appear to be interested in signing Carlos Correa. Is he interested in them? Will Correa end up moving to Chicago to play for the Cubs?
One of the most talented free agents to be available this year is still searching for his next team. Carlos Correa, who was previously with the Houston Astros (and could potentially return to Houston), is apparently interested in the Chicago Cubs.
It makes sense that the Cubs would be interested in Correa, but what’s the draw for the shortstop to move to Chicago? What does he see that could be enticing him to take his talents to Wrigley Field?
Earlier this month, Mark Berman of KRIV in Houston shared on Twitter that Correa’s camp has been contacted by the Cubs.
According to MLB sources the agent for free-agent shortstop Carlos Correa has heard from the @Yankees, @RedSox, @Dodgers, @Cubs and @Braves and was offered five years/$160 million by the Astros last month.

It’s also worth noting that Correa has apparently been thinking about the Cubs and what it’s like to play at Wrigley Field.
According to an article from Gordon Wittenmyer of NBC Sports, Correa had this to say about the fans at Wrigley Field:
“When they traded everybody, and then you look at the couple games after that, it was still sold out,” Correa said. “I was, like, these fans are great. So yeah.”
Carlos Correa vividly recalls a day not long ago when he daydreamed about being a Cub.

Will the Cubs take a second shot at acquiring him?

Correa has also reportedly reached out to Javy Báez to ask about what playing for the Cubs is like.

And it seems like one new Cub wants Correa to join him in Chicago:

It remains to be seen as to where Correa will end up. The MLB lockout and an apparent back injury might make free agency negotiations more complicated than they otherwise would be for the talented shortstop, but he will eventually sign somewhere for an impressive amount of money.
He’s too talented for that to not happen. The Cubs aren’t alone here. A multitude of teams are interested in what Correa brings to the table. We’ll see who decides to make a deal that Correa will agree to.
