11. 1998 Denver Broncos

1998 would turn out to be John Elway’s final season with the Broncos. He was coming off a year in which he finally led Denver to a Super Bowl victory and was hoping for consecutive championships on his way into retirement.

Denver did more than just win another Super Bowl, they were dominant in doing so. They scored the second most points of any team in the league that season, totaling 501 points for 31.3 points per game. They were third in the NFL in total yardage, as well. Terrell Davis also ran for 2,000 yards in 1998 and was named the MVP of the league.

Denver’s defense was also stellar. They allowed the 11th fewest yards in the league, and were top 10 in fewest points allowed. It was a relative cruise for the Broncos through the playoffs. They destroyed the Dolphins 38-3 in the Divisional Round and beat the Jets 23-10 in the AFC Championship Game.

The Broncos would face Atlanta in the Super Bowl, who was coming off a win over the explosive Vikings in the NFC Championship Game. Denver beat the Falcons 34-19 to send John Elway out on top as a two-time Super Bowl champion.
