Ohio State football coach Ryan Day had to address those silly Chicago Bears rumors at the podium during his Early Signing Day press conference.

If Ohio State football head coach Ryan Day leaves Columbus for the Chicago Bears, he has completely lost his mind.

Even though Bears head coach Matt Nagy’s seat is hotter than Hansel right now, Day would be crazy to leave one of the two best jobs college football has to offer willingly. Though he does have experience in the NFL, you do not leave a gig like the one he has at Ohio State to take on the perpetual chaos that is the Bears organization. He sadly had to address those rumors Wednesday.

Why would Day leave the best job in the Big Ten for not even the best job in the NFC North?

Ryan Day addresses those ridiculous Chicago Bears head-coaching rumors

The Buckeyes may have had a down season, but that down season means a loss to Oregon in the non-conference, a loss on the road to arch rival Michigan and a trip to the Rose Bowl to play Pac-12 champion Utah. Day may have to make some adjustments at Ohio State, but now is not the time to leave after the slightest bit of adversity to go lead the Bears and coach Justin Fields again.

While Chicago needs a new head coach more than any team in the NFC, hoping to get a coach out of the Big Ten like Day at Ohio State or Pat Fitzgerald out of Northwestern is not going to work. What Chicago needs is a proven offensive coordinator at the NFL level, someone who can build a high-octane offense around Fields. Day could do that, but he has no reason to leave Ohio State.

This denial was not as vehement as Mike Tomlin was about USC, but Day is not going to the Bears.
