Jimbo Fisher and the Texas A&M Aggies likely underachieved this season. Can a new batch of recruits help elevate what the Aggies do next season?

While an 8-4 season likely isn’t what some Texas A&M football fans were hoping for, that’s what they got this season.

The Aggies dealt with some injury issues, but they may have underachieved a bit this year. Can Jimbo Fisher and company get some talented recruits in to help improve for next year?

It looks like it.

Texas A&M football top 2022 recruit: Walter Nolen, DL (Powell, TN)

It looks like the Aggies are doing everything they can to improve their already solid defense. Getting a commitment from Walter Nolen, who already looks like he could play on any defensive line in the SEC at 6-foot-4 and 325 pounds, will definitely help that.

Texas A&M football recruiting strengths and weaknesses

Texas A&M has loaded up on wide receivers in this class, snagging commitments from five of them so far. Similarly, the Aggies have done well to bolster their secondary with four commitments from defensive backs. Texas A&M only has one running back so far, but that may not be the end of the world.

Diamond in the rough for Texas A&M football: Mark Nabou, OL (Seattle, WA)

The Aggies are getting a solid addition to their offensive line in Mark Nabou. He’s headed to College Station from Seattle and at 6-foot-4 and 330 pounds, it looks like he’s got the size needed to compete in the SEC.

Where does Texas A&M football rank nationally and in the SEC in recruiting?

The Aggies have one of the best classes in the SEC and nationally. Interestingly enough, Texas A&M comes in at third-best both nationally and in the SEC. That could really help the Aggies out as they move forward.

Texas A&M football 2022 recruiting grade: A+

Fisher and his staff are doing everything they possibly can to turn Texas A&M into a championship contender, and that includes recruiting at an absurdly high level. That’s easier said than done, but the Aggies are doing a decent job right now and they’ve got a group they should be proud of right now.
