Carson Strong – Nevada Wolf Pack

Carson Strong demonstrated that he can be one of the best quarterbacks in the country as he elevated his level of play this season. Strong completed 70.2 percent of his passes for 4,186 yards and 36 touchdowns against just eight interceptions.

That’s not bad.

Strong weighs in at 6-foot-4 and 215 pounds, making him an ideal sort of NFL quarterback candidate.

On top of that, Strong has shown consistent development throughout his career. He improved in each season he played, increasing his completion percentage from 63.4 percent in 2019 to 70.1 percent in 2020 and then to 70.2 percent in 2021.

In terms of passing yards, Strong averaged 233.5 per game in 2019 and he upped that to 317.5 in 2020. That increased even further to 348.8 in 2021.

At least in theory, Strong should still be able to improve even more. Will the Broncos look to him to be their quarterback for the future?

Desmond Ridder – Cincinnati Bearcats

Like Howell, Desmond Ridder is another quarterback who got some Heisman attention this season. Even if he ultimately didn’t win it, it’s noteworthy that many considered him in the discussion for college football’s most prestigious award at various times throughout his senior season.

Ridder is experienced and has been able to consistently develop while with the Cincinnati Bearcats. A consistent four-year contributor for Luke Fickell’s team, Ridder has become an intriguing option at the next level.

Ridder has shown some athleticism and the ability to get some rushing touchdowns when needed, but he’s not someone who relies solely on his legs to score.

This year, Ridder has completed 65.9 percent of his passes for 3,190 yards and 30 touchdowns while also throwing eight interceptions. In addition to that, Ridder ran for 361 yards and six more touchdowns.

He’s a pretty solid option.

Ridder’s consistent play helped elevate Cincinnati every season that he was there. And as he improved, so did the team around it. Now the Bearcats are in the College Football Playoff and Ridder’s play is one reason as to why Cincinnati got there.
