NFL Week 15 managed to give us some awful quarterback play in the early-afternoon window.

Even with three games being moved to Monday and Tuesday, Week 15 of the 2021 NFL season was not without horrendous quarterback play in the early-afternoon slate.

Once again, there are so many reasons why these games are not being played in the late afternoon slot or in primetime. Many of these teams stink, and lackluster quarterback play is not helping them in the slightest. Even if some teams were able to win despite their quarterback, that is a rough place to be heading into the final weeks of the season. It may not improve, though.

Here are three quarterbacks who played badly enough to merit being benched after this weekend.

NFL Week 15: 3 quarterbacks who played badly enough to merit being benched

55. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Pittsburgh Steelers. QB. Ben Roethlisberger. 3. player

Ben Roethlisberger’s sub-par play is an omen to a rough future for the Steelers

Though the Pittsburgh Steelers did go onto beat the Tennessee Titans 19-13, Steelers fans cannot feel great about this team offensively, now and in the future. While Ben Roethlisberger played his best ball when it mattered most, his stat line was not all that impressive. He completed 16-of-25 passes for 148 yards. Their only touchdown of the game was a one-yard run by Big Ben.

Had it not been for a great day from the Steelers defense and the leg of Chris Boswell, Pittsburgh could have lost a gotta-have-it game at home to Ryan Tannehill and the depleted Titans roster. Pittsburgh may improve to 7-6-1 after this Week 15 victory, but the future is bleak for this Steelers offense, regardless of if Roethlisberger returns for another year. This group needs help.

Unless it is a rock fight in the middle of terrible weather, it is hard to see the Steelers winning a playoff game, assuming they qualify. While going up-tempo seemed to help the offense in last week’s loss to the Minnesota Vikings, this was a tough watch vs. the Titans up in Pittsburgh. Benching Roethlisberger won’t solve these issues, but he is not helping them go away either.

Even if it is not a deep draft class, the Steelers have no choice but to take a quarterback in 2022.
