The Oregon football team has a new starting quarterback with former Auburn football star Bo Nix transferring in.

Dan Lanning’s Oregon football program just landed former Auburn football star quarterback Bo Nix in the transfer portal.

It was shocking when the Auburn legacy quarterback entered the transfer portal after having been the Tigers’ starter each of his three seasons down on The Plains. However, a new coaching regime in Auburn, as well as a season-ending ankle injury compounded in Nix leaving Auburn for Oregon in the portal. He is the type of quarterback that will have the Ducks contending for a Pac-12 title.

Nix reunites with his former Auburn offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Kenny Dillingham, who left Mike Norvell’s Florida State to work for his former Memphis coaching buddy Lanning.

While most teams with a first-time head coach are not expected to compete for conference championships right away, Lanning does take over the most talented team in the Pac-12 North. Of course, Kyle Whittingham has the Utah Utes humming in the Pac-12 South. Don’t forget Lincoln Riley is taking over the long down-trodden blue-blood that is the USC Trojans. Oregon is still good.

For the first time in his college career, Nix will be quarterbacking the most talented team in not only his division but in his own conference. While his playing style offers a great deal of variance, Nix did start three years playing in the SEC West. Though nothing will be given to him in Eugene, Nix could have an amazing season quarterbacking the Ducks if he plays up to his lofty standard.

While USC won the Pac-12 offseason by getting Riley to leave Oklahoma, Oregon picked up an elite offensive playmaker in Nix by way of the transfer portal.
