Duke basketball: 50 best players to play for Coach K
17. Marvin Bagley (2017-2018)
Marvin Bagley III played only one season in Durham, but it was one of the better single seasons we have ever seen out of a Duke basketball player. Bagley averaged 21.0 points, 11.1 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 0.8 steals, and 0.9 blocks per game and was an absolute game-changer for the Blue Devils during the 2017-18 season.
The numbers Bagley put up were good enough for him to be named the ACC Player of the Year, he was a Consensus All-American, was named to the All-ACC first team, the All-ACC Tournament team, the ACC All-Freshman team, and was the ACC Rookie of the Year as well. Bagley was also so close to helping the Blue Devils get back to the Final Four, but a buzzer-beater from Grayson Allen that rolled around the rim and missed and a bad block call by the refs in overtime, caused the Blue Devils to come up just short in the Elite Eight.
Bagley was then selected second overall in the 2018 NBA Draft by the Sacramento Kings, and over the course of four seasons with the Kings, he holds career averages of 13.9 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 0.9 assists per game.
