Here is how the Kansas City Chiefs can win the AFC West title for the sixth-consecutive season in Week 16.
Remember when the Kansas City Chiefs looked like they were going to be nowhere near first-place in the AFC West earlier this season? Yeah, those times are over. The Chiefs have caught fire as of late, winning their last seven games entering Week 16. That, and they currently hold the top seed in the AFC.
The Chiefs have the chance to not only clinch a playoff berth this weekend, but also their sixth-straight AFC West title. Here is how they can do so, courtesy of NFL.com.
How the Chiefs can win the AFC West in Week 16
There are two ways for Kansas City to win the division crown:
- Kansas City win over the Pittsburgh Steelers and a loss/tie by the Los Angeles Chargers against the Houston Texans
- Kansas City tie against Pittsburgh and a Los Angeles loss to Houston
Even if they do not clinch the AFC West this weekend, they can still secure a playoff berth.
How the Chiefs can clinch a playoff berth in Week 16
There are four specific scenarios in which Kansas City can clinch the first playoff berth in the AFC this weekend:
- Kansas City win
- Kansas City tie and Buffalo Bills loss to New England Patriots
- Kansas City tie and Indianapolis Colts loss to Arizona Cardinals
- Chiefs tie and the Baltimore Ravens-Cincinnati Bengals game not ending in a tie
Kansas City looks to make the playoffs, with the ultimate goal of reaching the Super Bowl for the third consecutive year. They won Super Bowl 54 by defeating the San Francisco 49ers 31-20. In Super Bowl 55, they lost 31-9 to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
