Missouri quarterback Connor Bazelak put his name in the transfer portal after three seasons with the Tigers. Where could he end up?
The wave of quarterbacks jumping into the transfer portal continued on Thursday with Missouri’s Connor Bazelak.
The redshirt sophomore started 20 games over the last two seasons and was the SEC’s Offensive Freshman Of the Year in 2020. He’s more proof that life moves quickly for college quarterbacks as he looks to enter the next phase of his career.
With so many other quarterbacks in the portal, it’s tough to see where in the Power 5 Bazelak could land. It seems more likely he’ll go somewhere close to home.

Ohio
Bazelak attended Archbishop Alter in Dayton, Ohio before signing with Missouri as a four-star prospect in 2019. Ohio could bring him back to his home state.
Sophomore Kurtis Rourke led the Bobcats in 2021 but his production was limited. Bazelak would have to compete for the starting job, but he’d be capable of winning it.
Western Michigan
Kaleb Eleby tore up the MAC with Western Michigan this year with 3,116 yards and 21 touchdowns. Now he’s rumored to be heading for the NFL, leaving the Broncos with a need at quarterback.
Bazelak could step right in and put up big numbers as well with the potential to dominate the MAC himself. If he wants a more sure path to a starting job, this wouldn’t be a bad place to start, especially since it’s not exactly far from home.
North Carolina
The Tar Heels are also losing a quarterback to the draft with Sam Howell in the mix for a first-round selection. Mack Brown needs a new passer to stake his hopes on in 2022.
Bazelak struggled with injury and regression in 2021 but the flashes he showed in 2020 could be enough to give North Carolina a boost.
