Target is a one-stop-shop for getting ready for the Christmas holidays but be prepared for a change to closing hours on Christmas Eve.

When it comes to shopping for everyday life or for big events like Christmas, Target is usually the right spot to get everything sorted out.

The array of departments from toys to electronics to food to clothes simplifies life. Sure, that may mean going into the store for one thing and leaving with a cart full of unexpected additions. It’s usually worth it, especially around the holidays when there are a million things to get done.

However, if you leave the Christmas shopping too late you might be in for a world of complications this year.

That’s because Target stores will be closed on Christmas Day and will close their doors early on Christmas Eve.

Target Christmas Eve hours: When is closing on Christmas Eve?

The company announced that most of its stores will close at 8:00 p.m. local time on Dec. 24 with doors reopening at normal hours on Dec. 26. Call your local store to find out if their opening hours are subject to change.

They’ll try to make it easy on you with free order pickup through 6:00 p.m. on Christmas Eve but you’ll have to get your online orders in before then to have them available before closing. There are deals to be had if you don’t delay.

So those who end up scrambling for wrapping paper or a last-minute gift for a relative at 9 p.m. on Christmas Eve will find themselves out of luck when it comes to Target.

The good news is there are other stores to turn to if something comes up late. CVS and Walgreens locations should be open for business on Christmas Eve and Christmas.
