Patrick Mahomes wished Chiefs fans a Merry Christmas along with his fiancé Brittany Matthews.

Mahomes spent his Christmas at home with his family, as the Chiefs face the Steelers at Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday. Mahomes and the Chiefs have been on a roll of late, winning seven straight games and leading Kansas City to the top of the AFC.

Suddenly, the Chiefs are exactly where we thought they should be, setting the tone not just for the conference, but the entire NFL. On Christmas, Mahomes took some time to appreciate where the Chiefs are in the standings and his family of fans as well.

Mahomes and Matthews welcomed their first child this year as well, picture above. Sterling Skye Mahomes took part in their first Christmas photo.

Chiefs: Will Steelers pose legitimate threat?

The Chiefs looked to be in serious trouble early in the week, as a COVID-19 outbreak threatened some important players. Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce were on the list at one point. Both Hill and Kelce could be activated before the game, depending on their COVID-19 status.

Facing off against the Chiefs with or without some key weapons remains a tough task as long as Mahomes is under center. Ben Roethlisberger isn’t what he used to be.

A critical comeback win at home last week over the Titans helped keep the Steelers’ playoff hopes alive. If Roethlisberger and Co. fall short against Kansas City, they’ll be sitting at 7-7-1 with two games remaining, thus facing an uphill battle to make the AFC Wild Card.

The Chiefs, meanwhile, can simply pad their status as favorite in the conference, and play spoiler against some longtime competition in the AFC.
