Ben Roethlisberger’s failed flea flicker vs. the Kansas City Chiefs is yet another reason why the Pittsburgh Steelers need to draft a quarterback this spring.

This horrendous execution of a flea flicker by Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is another nail in the coffin of his illustrious NFL career.

Early in the first half of the Steelers’ road game at the Kansas City Chiefs, Roethlisberger decided to run the good, old-fashioned flea flicker to try to move the sticks. Unfortunately, it resulted in an easy interception for Chiefs defensive back Charvarius Ward. While he is a no-doubt, first-ballot hall of famer, it is so long past overdue for Big Ben to hang up the spikes and call it a career.

Steelers fans have to accept the franchise must draft Roethlisberger’s successor this offseason.

Admittedly, it was going to be immensely difficult for the Steelers to go into Arrowhead and beat the red-hot Chiefs. However, they would have next to no chance with Roethlisberger playing like a shell of himself. Sadly, he is nowhere near the same player he once was. He may be a great competitor and as tough as they come, but the veteran quarterback just doesn’t have it anymore.

The worst part in all this for Steelers fans is the franchise blew the last decade of Roethlisberger’s hall of fame career. It had so much time to get it right and get him back to the Super Bowl. Instead, the Steelers will have missed out on the Super Bowl for presumably the 11th straight season. Look for this year’s team to go out with a whimper, finish around .500 and miss the AFC playoffs.

Who knows who will be the Steelers’ starting quarterback next season, but it so won’t be Big Ben.
