Kansas City Chiefs running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire will not miss the rest of the season, which should be considered a win for Andy Reid and Co.

CEH suffered what appeared to be a severe shoulder injury in Sunday’s win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. While Edwards-Helaire is expected to miss some time, he should be back in time for the postseason assuming he doesn’t suffer a setback.

Per Adam Schefter, “Chiefs’ RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire is now considered week-to-week with a bruised shoulder, per a league source. It will be challenging for Edwards-Helaire to play Sunday vs. Cincinnati but the fact that it is on the table is a win for CEH and the Chiefs.”

This is considered good news for Kansas City. In the meantime, expect Darrel Williams to get the majority of the carries in the backfield behind Patrick Mahomes.

Chiefs: How long will Clyde Edwards-Helaire be out?

Edwards-Helaire could be out for the rest of the regular season, especially if the Chiefs can find a way to lock up a first-round bye this weekend. CEH is still up in the air for this weekend, although it doesn’t seem likely he’ll play against the Bengals on the road.

If the Chiefs are smart, they’ll sit Edwards-Helaire in Cincinnati, and perhaps on the road at Denver. Kansas City is good enough to beat at least the Broncos without their starting running back, and Williams is a No. 1 caliber back himself on some teams.

The Chiefs are hitting their stride at the right time, winners of eight games in a row with the playoffs nearing. Mahomes and a strong defensive resurgence are the primary reasons for that. Assuming they get Travis Kelce back from the COVID-19 list for their trip to Cincinnati, it’s tough to see them losing the rest of the way, even without CEH.
