Michigan football lands elite offensive lineman in transfer portal

Michigan football beefed up their offensive line for next season with the addition of Olusegun Oluwatimi from Virginia via the transfer portal.

Getting ready to play in the College Football Playoff isn’t stopping Michigan football from making big moves in the transfer portal that could put them back in the playoff next season.

On Monday, the Wolverines picked up a commitment from former Virginia center Olusegun Oluwatimi.

The Rimington Trophy finalist and second-team All-American is joining Michigan as one of the top available transfers on the market.

He announced the move with a tweet and a simple hashtag: #GoBlue

Oluwatimi earned postseason honors from the FWAA, Action Sports Network, Phil Steel and Pro Football Network for his work on the Virginia offensive line this year. Pro Football Focus graded him second among centers in run blocking this season.

He made his first start in 2019 after redshirting in 2018. He was at the Air Force Academy in 2017. He went on to start 32-straight games

Bringing in Oluwatimi ensures the Wolverines will have the center spot taken care of for 2022 after saying goodbye to current center Andrew Vastardis. The senior will move on to the next phase of his career, handing the baton off to the new transfer.

The 6-foot-3, 310-pound lineman from Maryland will be expected to anchor the Michigan front in 2022, putting his skills in the rushing attack to good use. The Wolverines led the Big Ten in rushing this season and they’ll hope to do it again next.
