Florida quarterback Emory Jones announced his plans to enter the transfer portal but it’s possible he’s had a change of heart.

On Dec. 15, Florida’s Emory Jones told Yahoo! Sports he was going to enter the transfer portal after the Gators’ Gasparilla Bowl appearance against UCF.

Well, the Gasparilla Bowl came and went on Dec. 23 and Jones still wasn’t in the portal.

The New Year arrived too and Jones still wasn’t in the portal.

Now it looks like the portal is no longer in the cards for the quarterback.

Emory Jones transfer update: Florida quarterback isn’t in portal

A report from Matt Zenitz of On3 Sports revealed Jones is enrolled in classes for the spring semester and even attended a team meeting on Tuesday. Brad Crawford of Swamp247 confirmed Jones’ attendance at that team meeting.

Jones had 2,734 yards and 19 touchdowns for the Gators this past season with 758 yard and four touchdowns added on the ground. However, he threw 13 interceptions as Florida struggled through a rough campaign.

After head coach Dan Mullen was fired, it made sense for Jones to take time to consider his options. However, since he never officially entered the portal, he was never free to speak to other schools.

New head coach Billy Napier may have plans for the incumbent starter. At least there must be enough assurances from the staff to convince Jones to enroll for spring classes.

Jones could still end up leaving the Gators. For now, it looks like he’s staying put.
