Packers bold predictions, Matt LaFleur

The Packers wrapped up the No. 1 seed in the NFC by blowing out the Vikings last week. How will they perform against the Lions in Week 18?

Matt LaFleur faces the age-old question of whether or not to play his starters in the Packers’ meaningless regular-season finale against Detroit on Sunday afternoon. Even if Aaron Rodgers and the starters take the majority of the game off, Green Bay should have more than enough firepower to dispatch with the lowly Lions.

After all, the Packers enter this game with a sterling 13-3 record compared to the Lions’ embarrassing mark of 2-13-1. It’s safe to say the Jared Goff experiment hasn’t worked out in the Motor City.

Green Bay’s focus for this game should be entering the postseason as healthy as possible. That should lead to plenty of rest for Rodgers and his veteran teammates. It’s still fair to expect the backups to put up big numbers against such a weak opponent. Keep a close eye on the following five predictions in the Packers’ playoff tuneup.

5. De’Vondre Campbell will notch double-digit tackles

The Packers won’t be able to rest as many defensive starters as they can on the offensive side of the ball. That means Campbell should log plenty of snaps as the team’s top tackling linebacker again this week.

Establishing D’Andre Swift should be a priority for Detroit. They’ll try to get him going early in the first quarter to establish dominance at the line of scrimmage. The Lions will achieve some success in that regard, but Campbell will be a tackling machine. Expect him to log 10+ tackles with relative ease.
