2022 NFL Mock Draft: Houston Texans pass on a QB, stick with Davis Mills

Picks No. 7 through 10

7. player. 30. . Cornerback. New York Jets. Derek Stingley Jr.

Thanks to the trade they made with the Seattle Seahawks for Jamal Adams, the Jets currently hold two of the first seven picks in the 2022 NFL Draft. They have a real good chance to stay in these two spots after Week 18, so they will have two very early picks to try and change the fortunes of the franchise.

At pick No. 7, the Jets continue to add to the secondary, bringing in the best cornerback this draft class has to offer. Derek Stingley Jr. has had a first-round grade on him since his freshman season at LSU and should be the first cornerback off the board.

31. . Edge. New York Giants. George Karlaftis. 8. player

The New York Giants will not only pick at No. 5 overall but also at No. 8, the pick they got from the team that beat them in Week 17. The Chicago Bears have been awful this season but throttled the Giants this past weekend, and every time they win, the Giants see this pick fall later into the first round.

Still, two of the first eight picks is huge for the Giants, especially as they look to revamp the roster on both sides of the ball. With pick No. 8, the Giants look to bolster their defensive line, bringing in an elite edge rusher in George Karlaftis from Purdue.

58. . Offensive Tackle. Washington Commanders. Charles Cross. 9. player

It is going to be an interesting offseason for the Washington Football Team, especially if they decide to make a move at quarterback. However, Taylor Heinicke has played well enough to earn the job for the 2022 NFL season, so the Washington Football Team would be wise to stack some talent in front of him on the offensive line.

Looking at the players available, Charles Cross would be an excellent get for the WFT here at pick No. 9 overall. He has the talent to be a starting left tackle from Day 1 at the NFL level, and the Washington Football Team needs all the help they can get along the offensive line this offseason.

10. player. 44. . Linebacker. Atlanta Falcons. Nakobe Dean

The Atlanta Falcons were eliminated from playoff contention with their loss on the road against Buffalo in Week 17, and now questions remain about their starting quarterback, Matt Ryan. I believe Ryan played well enough to get another season with the franchise, and they should look to target another position group in the 2022 NFL Draft.

One thing is clear with this Falcons team, and that is that they need help on defense, especially at the linebacker position. Nakobe Dean is a freak athlete who can be a three-down linebacker at the next level, bolstering one of the weaker position groups on this Falcons roster.
