3 Bears who can’t be brought back for post-Matt Nagy rebuild

The Chicago Bears will reportedly not be bringing back head coach Matt Nagy after this season. Here are three individuals who should not be brought back to the Windy City in 2022.

The Chicago Bears are one week away from their disappointing season reaching its end. Yes, they are entering Week 18 with a two-game winning streak, but those victories came against bad teams like the Seattle Seahawks and New York Giants.

Even with the streak, that is not enough for head coach Matt Nagy to keep his job. According to reports, the Bears will not be bringing Nagy back for the 2022 season. That means there will be a new sideline boss for the Bears and changes will be coming. So, who stays and who goes?

Here are three individuals that the Bears should not bring back for the 2022 season.

Jimmy Graham, TE

Once hitting free agency at the start of the 2020 league year, it was unknown where tight end Jimmy Graham would play. He was coming off a two-year tenure with the Green Bay Packers, but the Bears decided to sign the then-34-year-old to a two-year, $16 million contract, $9 million of which was guaranteed.

Graham’s first season was rather decent statistically, as he caught 50-of-76 targets for 456 yards and eight touchdowns. That touchdown total was the most he put up in a single season since 2017 when he was with the Seattle Seahawks.

In 2021, Graham has taken a backseat in the offense due to the play of second-year tight end Cole Kmet. The 2020 second-round pick has 56-of-88 targets for 564 yards in 16 games. Through 14 games, Graham recorded 12 receptions for 151 yards and three touchdowns on 21 targets.

With Kmet firmly holding onto the starter’s job, it should spell the end of Graham’s time in Chicago.
