Insider says NBA expansion seems headed for Seattle and Las Vegas
With an NBA expansion looking more and more likely, basketball fans in Seattle and Las Vegas are getting fired up about the future.
While we may be in the middle of another exciting NBA season, that hasn’t stopped the talks of a potential expansion coming into place in the near future. This has been a popular topic of conversation for years now and two cities in particular could get big news: Seattle and Las Vegas.
According to recent reports, ownership groups indeed are in place for Seattle and Las Vegas to make something happen. This is huge.

Seattle and Las Vegas could receive NBA teams down the road
Starting with Las Vegas, Sin City has long wanted a pro hoops team in town. We’ve all seen the success of the NBA Summer League over there. Plus, with Las Vegas adding the Golden Knights and Raiders, local officials have dreaming of adding NBA and MLB teams. It could happen soon.
Meanwhile in the Pacific Northwest, folks all over the state of Washington haven’t forgotten about Clay Bennett stealing the SuperSonics from Seattle and moving the team to Oklahoma City, where they’re now suiting up as the Thunder.
Seattle is a big-time basketball city and the fact that there’s no pro team truly is depressing. People in The Emerald City are dreaming of a new squad getting to the area, so they can finally see both Shawn Kemp and Gary Payton officially have their numbers retired. Both those jerseys belong in the rafters in Seattle.
While we don’t know exactly when the expansion teams will be given the green light, this latest update surely does inspire hope both in Washington and Nevada. For folks in Seattle especially, they’ve suffered enough and it’s time for the Sonics to suit up in the 206 once again.
