Georgia football’s defense has given Alabama quarterback Bryce Young the same nickname that an NFL defense bestowed on Cardinals star Kyler Murray.

On Saturday, Georgia defensive lineman Jordan Davis revealed the nickname the Bulldogs’ defense has for Alabama quarterback Bryce Young and it’s a good one.

When Georgia faces off with the Crimson Tide in the CFP National Championship game, they’ll be taking the field with “The Gingerbread Man.”

Don’t make the mistake of thinking that’s a slight on Young. It’s much more rat poison than bulletin board material.

Why does the Georgia football defense call Bryce Young “The Gingerbread Man”?

Young got the nickname because of the classic phrase, “Run, run as fast as you can. You can’t catch me, I’m the gingerbread man.”

Davis got the idea from watching the Colts on HBO’s Hard Knocks. Indianapolis’ defense referred to Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray as “The Gingerbread Man.”

Any comparison to Murray should be taken as a compliment considering his success at the college and pro level.

Georgia’s defense is keenly aware of just how elusive Young can be. When the teams battled in the SEC title game, Young lit the Bulldogs up with 421 yards and three touchdowns through the air while adding 40 yards and a touchdown as a rusher.

No matter how difficult it is to catch Young, Georgia will have to do a much better job of keeping him in check on Monday when the national championship is on the line.
