Jameis Winston, QB

Speaking of the quarterback position, Jameis Winston is not necessarily a guarantee to return to New Orleans, as he is an unrestricted free agent.

The Saints had the unenviable task of trying to replace the legendary Drew Brees after he announced his retirement. After a competition in the preseason, Winston won the job over Taysom Hill. Winston got off to a hell of a start, as he threw five touchdowns in the team’s 38-3 Week 1 win over the Green Bay Packers. While he failed to replicate a similar performance, Winston was still solid under center.

Before he suffered his season-ending knee injury, Winston threw for 1,170 yards, 14 touchdowns and three interceptions on a 59.0 completion percentage. Most importantly, he held a 5-2 record as the starting quarterback.

This is not to say the Saints won’t try to re-sign him. Rather, there are going to be more than a handful of quarterback needy teams that will be looking for a new signal caller. Winston could very well receive an enticing offer from an organization looking for a starter.
