Will Sunday’s game with the Minnesota Vikings be the last for veteran head coach Mike Zimmer with the team?

Come Sunday afternoon, the Minnesota Vikings and Chicago Bears are all set to play their last game of the season. Neither NFC North team will be continuing on to play in the postseason. For both teams, it could also be the final contest for their respective coaches.

With Minnesota, Mike Zimmer has been on the hot seat for quite some time. Now, things appear to be coming to a close, as NFL insider Ian Rapoport is reporting that all signs are pointing to the Minnesota front office making a change in the near future.

Vikings fans have grown increasingly frustrated with Zimmer, as the team has suffered losing season in back-to-back seasons. In 2020, the team went 7-9. Entering Sunday’s regular season-finale, Minnesota is also 7-9. They’ll either finish the campaign at 7-10 or 8-9.

Regardless of the Week 18 result, the team indeed won’t be moving on to the playoffs. With so much talent on both sides of the ball, the Minnesota supporters have made it more than clear they’re furious with the coaching staff as a whole. This is why they want Zimmer out and an exciting new coach to step in.

Zimmer has been with the team since 2014. He’s posted a 71-56-1 record in that time, of course highlighted by leading the Vikes to a 13-3 record and division-winning season in 2017.

While Zimmer has recorded plenty of great memories with the team, Minnesota isn’t living up to expectations. Zimmer may be able to hold his head up high regardless of what happens this offseason, but it sure is looking like he’s about to be out of a job.
