The Las Vegas Raiders have Derek Carr, but are mired in organizational chaos

While there is a lot to like about the vacancy within the Las Vegas Raiders, they are also the Raiders. For them to make AFC playoffs in the final game of the regular season is nothing short of incredible. It is a testament to the job special teams coordinator Rich Bisaccia has done in the interim, as well as Derek Carr playing great football. There is a decent chance Bisaccia is retained.

Though the move to Las Vegas will help the Raiders’ brand and bank accounts, they need a disciplinarian to replace Bisaccia if owner Mark Davis goes in that direction. The other big key here is what to do with general manager Mike Mayock. He was Jon Gruden’s guy, but together they made several questionable draft picks. There is upside with this job, but it is not for everyone.

With the right quarterback, the Denver Broncos can become great in an instant

The Denver Broncos are close. They have a talented roster, albeit one without a single Pro Bowler from this past year. However, their issues have remained. They have struggled to find stability at head coach since Mike Shanahan left and they cannot get the quarterback right for the life of them. Perhaps with the right head coach, the right quarterback will follow one way or another?

Ownership may be in a state of flux, but this is a proud football organization. The Broncos are never down for too long, but they are in the midst of their worst stretch in decades. George Paton will have his opportunity to hire his first head coach. While this may be a very pressure-filled job, there is a chance the Broncos could become the AFC version of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers soon.

Look for offensive-minded head coaches to fill the bulk of these NFL head-coaching vacancies.
