10. Oklahoma Sooners

Bob Stoops had the nation feeling whole again as he coached the Sooners in the Alamo Bowl against Oregon. Oklahoma rolled up 47 points and the nostalgia was hitting different. It was a nice end to a season for a program going through a coaching change.

9. Notre Dame Fighting Irish

The collapse in the desert doesn’t do Notre Dame’s performance in the Fiesta Bowl justice. They blew a 28-7 lead and allowed Oklahoma State to make a comeback that probably is going to leave a bad taste in everyone’s mouth in South Bend. Holding on for a blowout win would have assuredly put the Irish top five.

8. Michigan State Spartans

While they weren’t facing Kenny Pickett, Michigan State gets a bump for the Peach Bowl win. It won’t be the same bump Oklahoma State and Baylor likely get, but the Spartans will end the season in the top 10.

7. Oklahoma State Cowboys

The big comeback was a Fiesta Bowl moment that won’t soon be forgotten as Oklahoma State rallied to beat Notre Dame in a thrilling affair. Oklahoma State might even find itself as high as six or five, depending on which way the rankings go.

6. Baylor Bears

Baylor caught a break with Matt Corral going down but it was an impressive night nonetheless to hold an explosive Ole Miss offense to seven points in the Sugar Bowl. The Big 12 Champions ended the season in impressive fashion.
