The Georgia Bulldogs thought they had a huge moment early in the National Championship Game against Alabama but the refs overturned it.

If the Georgia Bulldogs were going to make a statement in the National Championship Game against Alabama, their defense was going to have to play at an elite level and make splash plays.

And on the first drive of the game, it looked as if they’d done just that.

Big Jordan Davis got penetration up the middle against the Crimson Tide and got hands on Bryce Young. But then, the ball popped loose and UGA linebacker Nakobe Dean was off to the races and took it to the house for what was ruled a touchdown off a fumble recovery on the field.

After review, however, it was ruled an incomplete pass.

Did Georgia get screwed by refs on overturned defensive touchdown?

Georgia fans have some gripes to be had with the refs on that play.

Yes, Young’s hand was moving a bit when the ball came out. But is it enough to actually overturn the call? Maybe, but it could be up for debate.

Had the call on the field not been a fumble, there would be less of a complaint. However, this might’ve been a play close enough that there wasn’t enough evidence to overturn either call.

Overturning the call is a big momentum-swinging decision, though. And how the Dawgs respond will be critical.
