The Atlanta Braves congratulated Georgia for their first National Championship win since 1980. Suddenly, the state of Georgia is a title beacon.

The Braves won their first World Series since the mid-1990’s. The Georgia Bulldogs won their first National Championship since 1980. What’s next, the return of the Thrashers?

Give the Dawgs credit, as they held Alabama at bay for a historic Natty win. Kirby Smart was incredibly proud of his guys. Smart gave a nod to the legendary Larry Munson while receiving the CFP trophy.

“There’s gonna be some property torn up in Indianapolis tonight baby!”

You’re damn right there was. The streets were flooded with Georgia faithful partying like it was 1980. Several Georgia sports teams congratulated the Dawgs as well, including the Braves.

Free agent outfielder Joc Pederson, whose magnificent pearls helped lead the Braves to a World Series, also reached out to the Georgia program.

Georgia football: Bulldogs made the entire Peach State proud

It wasn’t always easy, as the Bulldogs lost the SEC Championship to this same Alabama team and put their status as a playoff contender at risk. Georgia slid in as the No. 3 seed, and then proceeded to demolish the Michigan Wolverines and then sneak by the Crimson Tide.

Nick Saban, who was defeated by his former assistant in Smart, had to hand it to the Dawgs — they earned this championship the hard way.

“I love Kirby, I think Kirby has a lot of respect for us. He did a great job for us for a long time, if we had to lose a national championship I’d want to lose to one of our former assistants that did a great job for us,” Saban said.

After going so long without a title in one of the four major sports — or through a major collegiate program — the state of Georgia now has two of them in the same calendar year. Who would’ve thought?
