Leading up to the weekend’s showdown between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Kansas City Chiefs, Patrick Mahomes has shown plenty of love to Ben Roethlisberger.

Come Sunday night, NFL fans all over the place will be fired up to watch Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs take on the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Chiefs are monster favorites for this one, as Pittsburgh was just barely able to sneak its way into the postseason.

That doesn’t matter to Mahomes, though, as the star signal-caller has plenty of respect for the Steelers and quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. Mahomes made it quite clear with his latest comments that this one should be a dog fight.

Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs know the Steelers will be ready for battle

“He’s an all-time great quarterback that’s going to be in the Hall of Fame one day, but he’s still playing great football right now,” Mahomes said of Roethlisberger via Pro Football Talk. “If you look at the big-time throws, he’s made to keep their season alive, we know it’s going to be a great challenge for us.”

The Chiefs have won the AFC in back-to-back campaigns and the team is hoping to take home its second Super Bowl victory in the past three seasons. Roethlisberger and Co. will have something to say about that come Sunday, as Pittsburgh is hoping to record one of the biggest upsets we’ve see in a while.

While Roethlisberger’s level of play has dropped in recent seasons and this is expected to be potentially his final game of his career, Mahomes knows that Big Ben has what it takes to get the job done against Kansas City. Because of this, the Chiefs won’t lose focus for a minute and keep the pedal to the metal throughout.
