Former four-star wide receiver Mario Williams committed to USC football, leaving Oklahoma to join Lincoln Riley in Los Angeles.

Lincoln Riley’s move to USC opened the door for a potential transfer portal directly from Norman to Los Angeles.

One player has decided to walk through that door.

On Saturday, Mario Williams made his commitment to Riley and USC after one season with Oklahoma.

Mario Williams transferring to USC fuels Caleb Williams rumors

Williams entered the transfer portal shortly after quarterback Caleb Williams started exploring his options. He admitted to On3 that he was interested in joining Caleb wherever he landed.

The quarterback was spotted in Los Angeles over last weekend around the same time Williams was taking an official visit to USC. However, he has yet to announce a decision on his college football future.

Of course, the fact that Williams has thrown in his lot with the Trojans will amp up expectations of Caleb following Riley to USC as well.

Regardless of what happens with the quarterback, Williams is a huge get for USC. He ranked No. 43 overall in the 247Sports composite in the class of 2021.

Williams is undersized at 5-foot-9 but he makes up for it with quickness and playmaking ability.

As a true freshman, Williams caught 35 passes for 380 yards and four touchdowns. He was fourth among Sooners in receiving production.

The Trojans need a true standout wide receiver to lean on in 2022 after losing Drake London to the NFL. Williams might be up to that task, especially considering his familiarity with Riley’s offense. If Caleb Williams follows, their chemistry could also be a sizable factor in USC’s offensive success.
