Vikings already have seven head coach interviews lined up
By Scott Rogust
The Minnesota Vikings have an extensive list of candidates they want to interview for their head coach vacancy.
After failing to make the playoffs, Minnesota Vikings ownership decided to shake things up. HEad coach Mike Zimmer and general manager Rick Spielman were both fired the day after the conclusion of Week 18, leaving the Vikings looking for suitable replacements. When it comes to their head coach vacancy, the team is looking at all options.
The Vikings have requested to interview seven candidates for their head coach vacancy on Saturday, Jan. 15. Some of the names include Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive coordinator Todd Bowles, Green Bay Packers offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett and Dallas Cowboys assistants Kellen Moore and Dan Quinn.

Vikings request to interview seven candidates for head coach vacancy
The one thing that all of these candidates have in common is that they are currently assistants on teams participating in the playoffs.
As for what the plan is for Minnesota, team owner and president Mark Wilf said that they want to hire a general manager first before a head coach. Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reported that the Vikings are set to interview Tennessee Titans director of player personnel Monti Ossenfort on Sunday. Additionally, Minnesota will interview Hackett for the head coach job likely on that same day, since that is when the window to interview assistants on a playoff bye closes.
The Vikings will have some major competition for both head coach and general manager. There are seven other teams looking for a new sideline boss. Two of those teams are also looking for a general manager, including the New York Giants and the rival Chicago Bears.
So there you go Vikings fans, those are seven names to keep an eye on in the team’s search for a new head coach. We will continue to keep you posted if more names are added to the list, and when the team ultimately hires their new head coach.
