Cowboys: 3-round mock draft after embarrassing playoff loss to 49ers
Ed Ingram can replace the turnstile at left guard on the Cowboys O-line
It was a revolving door in more than one way at left guard for the Dallas Cowboys this season. In one sense, the team was forced to move between Connor Williams and Connor McGovern throughout the year. The other sense is that neither of those players performed well at all and consistently either gave up pressure or drew costly penalties.
There are likely big changes coming for the offensive line that has been a strength for Dallas over the years with Tyron Smith showing signs of wear and tear at left tackle, though he’s been great when healthy still. But those changes should start with finding someone the team can confidently start at left guard.
Ed Ingram could very well be that guy. While four starters from the 2019 title-winning LSU offensive line left for the NFL after that season, Ingram played quite a bit that season and has continued to perform well, even if the team has struggled to put the right group around him of late.
An extremely athletic interior lineman, Ingram could help open up the offense further with the ability to pull and move better than either Connor is able to while also simply being a more consistent player.
