Georgia football finally gets good news amid NFL draft exodus

The Georgia football program has lost a ton of talent to the NFL but they can look forward to getting defender William Poole III back for another year.

After winning the National Championship, the Georgia Bulldogs have seen a wave of players go out on top and declare for the NFL Draft.

The likes of Zamir White, James Cook, George Pickens and Nakobe Dean were among the first wave of players to announce their move to the pros. More followed as well.

The good news is not everyone who contributed to the Bulldogs title run is ready to head out just yet.

William Poole III is returning to Georgia football instead of NFL Draft

Defensive back William Poole III announced his intention of returning for his sixth season of eligibility in a relatively creative way.

Poole tweeted the date of Georgia’s season-opener against the Oregon Ducks in Atlanta. He’ll be playing in it.

The DB missed the opening four weeks of the season and didn’t have much of a role once he made it back onto the field. However, he got his chance to shine when he took over a starting job against Alabama in the SEC title game. He featured again in the playoff semifinal against Michigan then broke up two passes against the Crimson Tide in the championship game.

Pool finished the season with 14 tackles, a half tackle for loss and four pass breakups. He figures to play a much bigger role in his final season with the Bulldogs.
