4. Domantas Sabonis — Indiana Pacers

The Pacers All-Star Domantas Sabonis is also up for trade this season. He’s one of the best pieces available on the market, and it’s more likely than not that he gets dealt before the February 10th deadline. Sabonis showed his star power earlier this month when he went off for 42 points against the Utah Jazz. He has trouble certain nights keeping up that kind of production level, and he came right back two nights later with just 11 points against the Celtics, but the right situation would bring a consistent scoring threat.

Sabonis is a double-double machine that owns the boards. It’s a position that isn’t as prevalent as in previous eras, but having a good player underneath the boards does give your team an advantage. Nikola Jokic could win the MVP for the second year in a row, showing that dominant centers can still make a massive impact. The Pacers have two players who can play the position.

Sabonis isn’t Jokic, but he could have a similar impact on a team from the same position. Sabonis comes into a team and makes the center position one of the best in the league immediately. He could also play a more traditional power forward role. There aren’t many teams who would be happier down the middle without Sabonis on the team.

His value is massive. The Pacers could legitimately get two first-round picks and another young piece in this deal. Which teams are looking to make a deal like that while also being the type of contender who might be willing to make that deal? It all depends on how desperate both sides become. If Sabonis wants out of Indiana, the Pacers might get more motivated to make a deal by the time they get to February. If a team truly thinks Sabonis is the right piece to get them to a championship in a wide-open field, the move might be the right thing to do.
