San Francisco 49ers left tackle Trent Williams lined up at H-back on one play and destroyed the Green Bay Packers defense in their Divisional Round matchup.

The San Francisco 49ers are coming off a huge win over the Dallas Cowboys in the Wild Card Round. To reach the NFC Championship Game, they had to get past the top-seeded Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field.  To do so, they will have to get creative. Head coach Kyle Shanahan did just that.

On third-and-1 In the second quarter, 49ers left tackle Trent Williams lined up as an H-back in motion. When Jimmy Garoppolo handed the ball off to Elijah Mitchell, Williams plowed through the Packers defense.

As you can see, Packers linebacker Rashan Gary realized what happens when Williams gets a running start. To make matters worse for Green Bay’s defense, Mitchell picked up the first down.

San Francisco made it all the way down to the red zone, with the chance to tie things up at seven points apiece. But on first-and-goal, Garoppolo’s pass intended for tight end George Kittle fell short and into the hands of Packers safety Adrian Amos for an interception.

Green Bay seemingly were close to extending their lead, especially after Aaron Rodgers connected with running back Aaron Jones for a 75-yard catch-and-run. Rodgers fumbled the ball, which was recovered by Green Bay. Settling for a field goal, Mason Crosby’s 39-yard attempt was blocked by defensive back Jimmie Ward, leaving the score at 7-0 entering halftime.

Amidst all of the chaos that ensued afterwards, let’s not forget Williams’ running through Green Bay’s defense late in the second quarter.
